The Children’s Heart Foundation mission is to fund the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of congenital heart defects.

The CHF seeks life-saving, life-changing CHD research in clinical cardiology, basic science, population science, and advancement of surgical/interventional techniques, including, but not limited to the following areas: 

  • Genetics
  • Biochemistry
  • Pharmacology
  • Devices and procedural research (cardiac catheterization and surgery)
  • Neurodevelopmental and functional outcomes
  • Quality and policy regarding delivery of care, coverage and access
  • Maternal environment and modifiable disease impact on fetuses with CHD
  • Fetal diagnosis and intervention
  • Long-term care of adults with CHDs

Through 2018, CHF has funded over $11.1 million of CHD research.

Grants of up to $100,000/year for up to 2 years, will be awarded to Primary Investigators meeting the requirements outlined by CHF and having approval of the CHF Medical Advisory Council. Recipients must use funds awarded for the specific purpose for which they were originally intended.  

Deadline to submit application for the 2019 grant cycle is Friday, June 7, 2019. The online application system will close at 5:00 p.m. Central Time. All applications must be submitted by this time. Incomplete or late application will not be considered.
